The Thrill of an Update

My weekend has not been going as planned.  The departmental cold has been passed to me and today I’m slightly feverish, achy, coughing and I have a sore throat.  The next person in my household who gets anywhere near me with a bottle of NyQuil is in for some serious hurt!

We were supposed to participate in a trivia night with friends of ours but had to call that off due to my being sick.  I love trivia night and this is the only one until spring time.  :(  I told Samuel he should at least go and represent us but he refused.  Two other people on our team had to call off due to work and illness issues too.  That would have left 3 people on the team and not enough to play as a team.  Maybe next week we will try to get together and see a movie or do a game night of our own.

Since I am sick, I decided to indulge in a Southern Cross Fiber update on Etsy.  I was actually pretty good and only bought four braids of fiber.  This is my first Southern Cross Fiber in several months so I’m absolutely tickled to get some new fiber (in addition to rejoining the monthly SCF club).  I think this little purchase did more for me than the wretched NyQuil did.

I managed to get two braids of Polwarth, one in the “Jacaranda” colorway and the other in the “Silver Lining” colorway.  I love spinning Polwarth!  The third braid is Merino in a colorway called “Debbie” which are colors my sister will go bonkers for (maybe a cowl this time).  The last braid is in the “Dingo” colorway and is comprised of Shetland and Camel.  I’m looking forward to spinning this delightful combination of fibers.

My sister received her birthday package and likes both of the necklaces I sent  her.  :)  She appears to be getting a bit of cabin fever and as of yesterday had plans to get out of the house today.  Once again, I am impressed and amazed at her strength and courage and her “no nonsense” attitude in dealing with the cancer.  Just being the highly protective/very proud big sister here.

I should really fix my mistake in my Good Luck II cowl.  I need to finish spinning two ounces of Merino as part of my weekly spinning goal.  I should pick up Mr Greenjeans and knit a few more rows on it.  I need to block Melody’s hat and get that packaged up and sent to her still.  I think I’m just going to curl up and read for a bit though.  The thought of so much activity is wearing me out.

Addendum: The cowl has been finished and the remaining two ounces of Merino has been spun.  :)  Now I’m going to bed!

  • Rest is the best medicine right now, Ezara.

Congratulations on scoring the SCF! I am a big polwarth fan myself and have lots of it in stash. I managed to get the two things I really wanted too – some polwarth/bamboo in ‘Budgie’ and some silk in ‘Debbie’. I recently spun some SCF merino in Debbie into a 2-ply worsted – it’s in my Ravelry stash as ‘Tangerines’. Spins up beautifully!
