About Me

I am a known yarn stasher.  Back in the early days of my stash addiction I could fit my yarn cache under my desk.  Now my yarn stash takes up an entire wall.  I enjoy knitting socks and a large percentage of my yarn stash is comprised of sock yarn.  I also have a hefty amount of non-sock yarn too.

In the early spring of 2008, I read an article about spinning fiber into yarn using a spindle made of a pencil and a used CD.  Being a professional geek, I couldn’t resist something made out of a used CD and made one and gave spinning a try.  After a bit of frustration at first, everything “clicked” and I became a rabid spinning fanatic.  My first spinning wheel, a Louet Julia, arrived on June 13, 2008.  My Julia is a treasured piece of equipment that I love to spin on.  On September 14, 2008 my second wheel, a Majacraft Suzie Pro, arrived.  The Suzie is designed for production spinning and it too is a treasured piece of equipment.  I also have a nice selection of beautifully craft drop spindles that has long since replaced my primitive CD spindle.  Since learning how to spin, I have taken to hoarding fiber.

I was a happy knitter and spinner and couldn’t think of what else I would do with my non-work time (I have to work to support my yarn and fiber habit).  In October 2008 a 32-inch Kromski Harp rigid heddle loom joined my textile tool collection.  A cute Schacht Cricket arrived days before Christmas.  In March 2009 a handy 20″ Schacht Flip was added to the rigid heddle collection.  The newest addition to the collection is a beautiful Schacht Baby Wolf 8-harness loom that took up residence in my dining room on April 18, 2009.

Professionally I work in the Information Systems technology field.  My responsibilities include maintaining my organization’s web assets, SQL databases, and a variety of other server-related functions.  This is an occupation I enjoy and I love my job.

My family life consists of my husband and our four cats.  The cats are viewed as our children and are horribly spoiled little monsters.  Home life is very peaceful and enjoyable.  My husband pursues robotics in his spare time with my encouragement and in turn, he supports and encourages my fiber arts.  Life is good, what more is there to say?  :)
